Criminal Evidence
Professor Claire McGourlay, The University of Manchester
Inside the Court of Appeal (ITV, 2018)
Description
This playlist supports the criminal evidence course at The University of Manchester Law School. The programmes and clips compiled here help to explain some of the main rules of evidence which govern the conduct of criminal cases in England and Wales, including the most important rules and the inter-play between them. In my course students are encouraged to apply their knowledge of criminal evidence to real-life scenarios and to place the rules in the context of their rationale, their historical development, and modern criminal justice policy. Students don’t just learn facts, although obviously they are important, they are encouraged to learn how to find relevant information, evaluate it and synthesise it into an argument. This playlist helps them to put all this in context.
