- Description
- The organisers of the Annual Reading Festival have released details of this years line up, they have reverted to a mix of styles to try and avoid last years commercial flop when they concentrated on heavy metal. And they have revealed that the advertising theme this year, in advertisements being placed in all the music papers, is the last Reading Rock. Barney Jones talks about the details. This year’s line up includes a number of old favourites. Friday night will star The Stranglers, with new yorkers The Ramones supporting. Saturdays line up features Marillian, Suzi Quatro, and the band that Jack Barry, who books the acts, is most pleased about securing, Black Sabbath. On Sunday, Tom Rundigren band Utopia is headlining, with Thin lizzy also on the bill. And Jack Barry says he is philosophical about this being the last festival on the old site, next to the Thames. Also included in this years line up are Southside Johnny, Nils Lofgren, the climax blues band, The enid, Eddie and the Hot rods, and Survivor, who had a number one hit woth. [Box 2]
