- Mike Matthews talks to Leslie Thomas, born March 22, 1931 in Wales. He is a Barnado’s Boy. He talks about his life and his career as a writer. He lived in Barnado’s House from the age of 12 until he was 20. He talks about his book The Dearest and the Best and also the travelling books: Hidden Places of Britain. He says that now that he has 54-years-old he is making an appeal for Barnado’s Association to raise funds, because he is very grateful for this place there and they deserve to be helped. [Box 4]
