Paul Woodley reports from the United States where the gun lobby is gearing up for the most serious onslaught yet upon its right to operate unhindered, following a pledge from President Bill Clinton to regulate gun ownership. There are more than a quarter of a million gun dealers in the USA. Legislation to be put before Congress would send many of them out of business and, hope reformers, cut the number of firearms in circulation, and the crime rate.
