From 07/96, learner drivers will face a written test as well as the traditional practical driving test. Details of the new written theory test for learner drivers have been released today. Paul Chapman reports. Speakers include Edmund King, the RAC’s head of campaigns; Bernard Herdan, Chief Executive of the Driving Standards Agency; Ted Clements, Chief Examiner at the Institute of Advanced Motorists. We also hear from unidentified members of the Newsday office team who road tested five sample questions.
