- Northern Ireland Secretary, Peter Brooke sings verses from Oh My Darling, Clementine on Irish television (RTE’s Late, Late Show) only hours after IRA bombs killed seven Protestant workmen in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. Brookes later apologised for his action, which though meant innocently was unfortunate in its timing.
