- Ulster Unionist MP and former Health Secretary, Enoch Powell attacks the Archbishop of Canterbury, Donald Coggan, following his Christmas Day sermon. Powell says that the Archbishop will have angered the people of Britain by claiming that immigrants can enrich people’s lives. Powell urges that action be taken against further immigration, or else violence will ensue.
