Richard Bestic reports from Westminster following MP Edwina Currie’s claims that most egg production in the country is infected with salmonella. Britain’s Chief Medical Officer, Sir Donald Acheson, informs a House of Commons inquiry that only a very small proportion of eggs are infected but that these pose a serious health problem. Also on there being no evidence either way that most egg production is infected.
