Energy Minister David Heathcoat-Amory defends the redundancies which will have to be made in the British coal industry, claiming for the pits to become profitable there must be cutbacks and hints at a possible privatisation of the industry. Around 1100 jobs are to go in 4 Yorkshire pits in the latest British Coal cutbacks.
