- With the United Nations deadline approaching, UN Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar calls for Saddam Hussein to pull his troops out of Kuwait and avoid war. Perez de Cuellar says that the Palestine problem will be top of the international agenda. Yesterday the House of Commons voted to support the use of force in Iraq. Chairmen of the Foreign Affairs Committee, David Howell says this sends a message to Iraq; Phil Mitchell, International Institute of Strategic Studies, says that superior air power will prove to be decisive. Tim Locke reports.
