Neil Mainland reports on the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) strike. The announcement came after a miners’ executive meeting in Sheffield. NUM leader, Arthur Scargill, says support for their action remains strong. He also says he is not surprised that colliery managers have suggested putting an end to the NUM. He says the next move is likely to be an import ban. He has support from all the important unions.
