Description

Richard Bestic on a renegotiated agreement between the Liberal Party and the SDP on a merger. The deal is seen as a climbdown for SDP leader, Robert Maclennan, although speaking to press he says he is delighted, Shirley Williams and David Steel then answer further questions. He later went to the house of Dr David Owen in Limehouse, East London, in an attempt to win over the former SDP leader, but was rapidly shown the door.
