- After the Piper Alpha disaster, owners Occidental say they did not inform the Department of Energy inspectorate of a sabotage attempt on the platform until ten months after it happened. They say they did not consider it serious enough and they are being careful not to use the word sabotage . Spokesperson Alex Blake Milton explains why the inspectorate was not informed.
