Prime Minister John Major is among the Allies pleading with the Israeli Government not to respond to the previous night’s scud missile attack on Tel Aviv, as this would only be playing into the hands of of Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein. Labour Defence spokesman Martin O’Neill also comments. Labour MP and Vice-Chairman of the British-Israel Parliamentary Group, Greville Janner says that Israel not reacting is unlikely.
