- Sarah Dickinson interviews Sandy Gall, British journalist, author, and former ITN foreign correspondent on The Night is Young programme. He speaks about the war in Afghanistan (occupation by USSR) and peace talks; Mikhail Gorbachev; the lack of media coverage of the war; the publication of his book, Afghanistan: Agony of a Nation; and his experiences in Afghanistan. In the second half he goes on to speak about what makes a good war correspondent; his background and early career; being kidnapped by Idi Amin in Uganda and keeping in touch with his family while he is away. Also includes his choice of music; news bulletin and weather; adverts and a trailer by Richard Robbins, for his show, Classical Review on later. Starts mid-sentence, ends abruptly.
