- Description
- The Government’s rail privatisation programme has suffered an embarrassing hitch. The transfer of one of three lines to the private sector this morning has been halted because of fraud allegations. A director of the London-Tilbury-Southend line has resigned, and Labour is calling for a police investigation. Transport Minister John Watts denies it’s a serious setback, and maintains it was a sensible course of action.
