A British Rail investigation into allegations of ticket fraud has halted the sell-off of the London-Tilbury-Southend line and caused a director of the company to resign. Two other services passed into private hands this morning without incident. Transport Secretary Sir George Young plays down the problem, looking forward to improvements in the service.
