Description

An explosion has destroyed an underground car park and injured up to a hundred people in Canary Wharf. The blast came just an hour after a phone call to the Irish television network RTE, using a recognised codeword, said the IRA’s 17 month-old ceasefire was over. The bomb destroyed a six-storey building and shattered the windows surrounding the South Quay Station in the Docklands area. Helen (first name only) was at Canary Wharf when the explosion took place; she describes what she saw and heard.
