- Description
- Mohammed Al Fayed and his brother Ali have lost their legal battle to become British citizens. A High Court judge refused to grant them a judicial review but said the government’s decision to turn down their application for citizenship lacked the appearance of fairness. But there’s a lot more to the story than that as Newsday’s Dominic Waghorn reports. Speaking are Michael Cole, spokesman for Mohammed Al Fayed, Conservative MP David Ashby and Claude Moraes from the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants on the case and right of Home Secretary not to reveal reasons for refusing to grant citizenship.
