- An Iraqi Army officer has defected to Saudi Arabia, saying Iraqi troops are being forced into battle. RAF Group Captain Niall Irving says that they are not putting up much of a fight. An Iraqi advancement into Syria has been repelled and allied bombers have been in action. Syrian Foreign Minister, Farouk al-Shara, who is meeting with the UK Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary, says he is unhappy with the continual bombing of Iraq. Kuwaiti volunteers from Britain are heading to Saudi Arabia to act as guides and interpreters; Ali Abdullah of Kuwait City says they will be of great help. Male reporter not identified.
