Report on the Abbeystead disaster in 05/84 following a High Court ruling that negligence by the designers, builders, and owners of the Abbeystead pumping station in Lancashire caused the explosion in which 16 villagers died and 28 others were seriously injured during a North West Water PR exercise. The ruling means damages will now be claimed by survivors and relatives of the victims. Interviews with survivors John Cobb and John Holmes; fireman (poss.
