- Catherine Adams reports from Soweto where black people are voting for the first time in South Africa’s first all race elections. The ANC proclaimed their freedom charter here in 1955. First voter of the day Lawrence says change will take a long time, others including Bernard Lukoma(?) also comment. Also Michael Manyone(?) Inkatha Freedom Party chairman at Mansfield on voting not yet starting there.
