Gareth Furby reports on how dockers are gearing up for a fight in response to the Government’s decision to abolish the National Dock Labour Scheme. Support for a strike is overwhelming; George Leek(?), union shop steward at Tilbury, Essex, says workers have a right to a say in how the industry should be run. Port employers support the Government’s decision, and Stuart Bradley, (Ports Federation?), says a strike would be madness.
