After five years away from the stage, and after two dreadful runs at Covent Garden, tenor Luciano Pavarotti returns to perform the opera, L’Elisir D’Amore. A press conference was held outside the Savoy Hotel and reported on by Rodney Bennett (possibly for the programme, Art Beat). During the conference, Pavarotti discusses the choice of opera, British audiences, opera ticket prices and fees, his current diet, his relationship with fellow tenor Placido Domingo, football, and his upcoming performance of Othello at the Chicago Symphony and at Carnegie Hall.
