Speech by Russian President, Boris Yeltsin (via interpreter), at a summit in Washington DC. Yeltsin says communism in his country has gone forever and America has nothing to fear from the former Soviet republics and ought to help them move forward. He wants an aid package of economic support for Russia, the victim he says of its own discarded policies.
