Description
Melvin Pearce from Bristol was serving in the Royal Engineers in 1957 when the army exploded an atom bomb just a few miles away from him, off Christmas Island. Today’s unanimous ruling by the Law Lords gives him the go-ahead to sue the Government, and opens the floodgates for hundreds of similar cases. Pearce was too ill to attend today, but at his home he expresses his delight at the ruling. Female interviewer not identified. For Update programme.
