- Description
- In the aftermath of the weekend-long riot during which prisoners barricaded themselves in the D-Wing of Dartmoor Prison, Governor, John May explains that the authorities had done their best to anticipate trouble prior to the two-day siege. More than 150 prisoners have been moved out of Dartmoor and into other prisons, while one man is still on the roof, demanding to be transferred. Prison Officers Association spokesman John Moreson(?) blames the riot on the prison being under-staffed, while National Vice-Chairman, Alan Taylor explains that conditions had already been so bad at Dartmoor that it had been recommended for closure earlier in the year. Carole(?) Lochhead reports. Broadcast on Plymouth Sound.
