Description
Speaking after meeting his Soviet counterpart, Eduard Sheverdnadze, British Foreign Secretary, Douglas Hurd praises the COC for the part it has played in strengthening Anglo-Soviet relations, working towards creating greater political and economic stability in Europe whilst also addressing the reunification of Germany. He expresses concern over conflict in Lithuania, and the difficulty of handling the aspirations of the nationalist movement, encouraging discussion and peaceful negotiations.
