- A 22 year-old man has been charged in connection with shootings at Monkseaton on Tyneside. Robert Sarton will appear at North Shields Magistrates Court tomorrow. One man, Kenneth Macintosh(?), was killed, and two men and a woman are lying seriously wounded in hospital following yesterday morning’s rampage. James Matthews reports; Conservative MP Neville Trotter is seeking a meeting with Home Secretary, Douglas Hurd, on gun laws; hospital spokesman Michael Scargill provides an update on the condition of the survivors; John Sampson, an ambulanceman at the scene, calls for a ban on privately-owned firearms.
