- Description
- Lindelle(?) Melrose, wife of murdered Australian Stephen Melrose, speaks for the first time about the moment an IRA gunman shot her husband. She saw her husband and his fellow Australian lawyer, Nick Spanos die in a hail of bullets on Sunday night in Roermond, Netherlands. Vicki Coss, the girlfriend of Nick Spanos, says that for the moment she has not made any plans. Throughout the half-hour press conference the Australian High Commissioner Doug McClelland supported the two young women. He joined in condemnation of the killings and reiterated the message given by the Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, that the Australian Government rejects the IRA’s apology. Margaret Shiels reports.
