Description

At the Guildhall in London, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev is welcomed by the British in a speech which commends the Soviet Union on its many achievements and its strength. Gorbachev responds with a speech of his own, in which he outlines the good relationship Russia has created with the West, and looks to a brighter, peaceful future for all. UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher concludes the speeches with a tribute to the Russians’ friendship with the British, and talks about the Second World War, in which the Russians and British fought side by side.
