Description

Opposition leader Margaret Thatcher makes preliminary remarks in response to Denis Healey’s Budget speech. She commends him on his change in style and briefer speech. She claims to have no advance knowledge of the contents of the budget, and so - in accordance with custom - the Opposition’s formal response will be made tomorrow, by the Shadow Chancellor. There is some jeering in response to this, and the Speaker calls repeatedly for order.
