Description
Ken Gill, General Secretary of the AUEW, on Denis Healey’s 1978 Budget. Gill’s union had wanted more money invested in construction and industry, and Gill sees nothing in the Budget to deal quickly with unemployment. He is disappointed that there has been no attempt made to reduce the basic and top rates of income tax. He says that every worker needs an incentive to move upwards, and that workers at all levels in this country are on lower pay than their counterparts in Europe. Male interviewer not identified (poss. Vivian White).
