- Description
- In the Romanian capital of Bucharest, miners who rampaged through the streets in support of the Government have been leaving the city. President Ion Iliescu has paid tribute to them for their support against what he has called a fascist coup attempt, but opposition National Peasant Party leader and presidential candidate, Ion Ratiu, whose home and party headquarters were ransacked, says he is deeply saddened by events. Additional comment by Prime Minister, Petre Roman; an unidentified male emergency hospital doctor; inured student leader, Marian Munteanu. Gareth Furby reports from Bucharest.
