- On the day of the Conservative Party leadership ballot, supporters of John Major and John Redwood speak out for their preferred candidate. For Major: Jill Knight, Bernard Ingham, William Waldegrave, George Walden; for Redwood: George Gardner, John Wilkinson, Lord Rees-Mogg, Iain Duncan-Smith. Alan Clark says that the contest will do more harm than good, and Bill Walker claims that Conservative Party Central Office helped Major in his campaign, and that this was unfair. William Roncon reports.
