- Description
- Brian Ging reports on the large increase in the number of teenage boys being held in prison. Vivien Stern of NACRO says it’s difficult to explain why regimes should suddenly harshen towards the young. London’s chief probation officer, John Harding, thinks there are concrete legal measures which could be put in place. Levels of depression and rates of suicide among young people on remand are alarming. The government’s top inspector of prisons, Judge Stephen Tumim also speaks on the issue.
