- Description
- Two related interviews. Recorded crime in England and Wales fell by five-and-a-half percent in the year to June - the largest drop for 40 years. But violent crime is up and there have been more robberies. The Labour Party says the latest figures are misleading, but the Government claims they are further proof its crusade against crime is working. Home Office Minister, David Maclean has welcomed the figures and says (Band 1) people fear burglary more than they do violent crime. Band 2: Shadow Home Affairs spokesman, Alun Michael says the figures have been presented in a way that covers up the truth. Male interviewer not identified.
