- Broadcast to the nation by Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Smith following talks in Pretoria with American Secretary of State Dr Henry Kissinger and the South African Prime Minister John Vorster. Smith announces the Cabinet has decided to accept, subject to the lifting of sanctions and the cessation of terrorism, proposals for a constitution based on black majority rule and for the setting up of an interim government.
