- Nelson Mandela is in Glasgow to receive the freedom of nine towns and cities some given years ago while he was still a political prisoner and unable to formally accept, and call for further support as South Africa continues political change. At the ceremony in the banqueting room of Glasgow’s grand council chambers Colin Roberts, Greenwich chief executive is interviewed on presenting the freedom of Greenwich; acceptance speech by Mandela; Labour Foreign Affairs spokesman George Robertson MP on democracy in South Africa; also speech by Mandela at rally in central square.
