Description
51 tanks and troops are tonight moving out of the centre of Beijing for the first time since the Tiananmen Square massacre, but there are fears that the secret police will stay on in the crackdown against students. As the military pulled out, China’s most senior hardline leader, Deng Xiaoping appeared on television, proving that he is still in charge. From Beijing, Gareth Furby reports.
