Simon Bowden reports on the acquittal of Frank Crichlow, Notting Hill cafe owner, following his trial in a case in which more than sixty policemen testified that heroin and cannabis had been found in his possession. Frank Crichlow, who runs the Mangrove Club in Westbourne Grove, claims he was the victim of a police conspiracy. His supporters are calling for a public inquiry and for the senior policeman in charge of the investigation, Chief Superintendent Clive Pearman, to be sacked and for the other officers to be suspended, disciplined, or charged with perjury.
