- Description
- Yigal Chazan reports as Health and Safety watchdogs have launched an investigation after the death of Channel Tunnel construction worker Charles McCourt. McCourt was killed by an electric shock only three weeks after construction company TransManche Link promised an increase in security. The British side of the tunnel is said to have a much worse safety record than that of the French. Employment Secretary Michael Howard and safety inspector Tony Lenahan speak of the insufficient written emergency plans and the procedures in place to stop future accidents. Interviewer not heard.
