- Kuwait has appealed for urgent help from Arab countries to repel the invasion by Iraq. This comes after Iraq claims to have overthrown the Kuwaiti Government. The British Embassy was caught in the crossfire although there are thought to be no injuries. UK Foreign Office Minister, William Waldegrave condemns the action and it is thought that US President, George Bush will have to pull out of talks with UK Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. Iraq has warned America not to invade; the Americans are said to prefer a diplomatic response.
