Description
Report from an anti-racist demonstration in the East End of London. British National Party councillor Derek Beackon attended a Tower Hamlets council meeting last night, sparking the protests on which he comments here. Paul Holborow of the Anti-Nazi League explains what the protesters hope to achieve. Labour councillor Paula Manzila Odin defends the boycott of the meeting by Labour councillors, but James Hunt (Labour) and Tim Dickinson (Conservative), both defeated by Beackon in the Millwall ward, take a different view. Liberal Democrat, Peter Hughes also comments on an accusation of racism made after a Lib Dem leaflet campaign, and on the protests against the BNP. Kevin Murphy reports.
