Interview with Roger Kirby, one of the world’s leading urologists, who is quitting his consultant’s post at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (Barts) in London because uncertainty over its future is hampering his work. He is furious at Health Secretary, Virginia Bottomley’s decision to turn the hospital into a subsidiary of the Royal London Hospital and is incensed that a merger could close Barts and break up some of the world’s best medical teams.
