Peter Russell reports on a call by Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Peter Imbert for an FBI-style national detective agency to combat increasingly sophisticated international crime. Speaking to the independent Police Foundation in London, he went beyond the Government’s public support for increased co-operation between the existing crime-fighting bodies, and set out the case for a new force with its own detectives, lawyers and accountants.
