Description
The ban on a controversial film which depicts author Salman Rushdie as a drunkard who murders Muslims has been lifted by the Video Appeals Committee. The Pakistani film International Guerrillas was banned by the British Board of Film Classification because they thought it was possibly criminally libellous. Rushdie, who has been in hiding since the late Ayatollah Khomeini sentenced him to death, has called for the ban on the film to be lifted - in his words, to show what an incompetent piece of trash it is. Mohammed Fayyaz, who owns the world distribution rights to the film, says International Guerrillas should never have been banned. Male interviewer not identified.
