Description
Scandal is surrounding George Bush’s running mate, vice-presidential candidate Dan Quayle. He is accused of having pulled strings to join the Indiana National Guard and thus avoid being called up to Vietnam - a claim supported by former officer Alfred Arner. The Los Angeles Daily News has also reported that Quayle asked political lobbyist and former playboy model Paula Parkinson to sleep with him whilst on a golfing holiday. He strenuously denied both allegations. Despite the bad press, Bush still leads his rival Michael Dukakis in the opinion polls. Report by Andrew Manderstam.
