- The former Chancellor, Norman Lamont, has lost the first round of his fight to stay in Parliament after the next general election. Tories in Surbiton voted for the sitting MP Richard Tracey, leaving Mr Lamont to search for another constituency. His Kingston seat will disappear because of boundary changes. He says he had a responsibility to his followers to stand.
