- Report from the scene on a fire test on an escalator at Kings Cross underground station to ascertain safety of the station following the 1987 fire which killed 31. Keith Moody, in charge of the technical side of the reconstruction, describes the test, and the changes which will need to be made. Scientists have discovered the trench effect, which deputy director of the explosion and flame laboratory John Barton explains. Male reporter not identified.
